I'm using the latest MP and tvseries and for some reason the changes to my watch folder isn't working properly. I've checked the watch folder and I also checked the setting to do a scan every 5 minutes. My watch folder is on another computer. I tried both the mapped drive Z:\ and also using the UNC path and I tried deleting the database and reinstall tvseries and still doesn't work properly. It worked perfectly before when I was using the an older version of MP and an older version of tvseries. For example, when I deleted or added a file from my watch folder via my computer, I would see the changes instantly while in MP. Now the only way I can get the file deleted from the database I would have to do a force local scan. Also, when I looked at the logs, I can see in the timed local scan, it detects that I've deleted the file BUT it doesn't get removed from MP. Any ideas to get it working the way it did before? Please help.

It should be working, what settings have you defined for your import share? Do you have 'keep_references' enabled?

Hello, no I don't have keep reference on. I tried turning it on to see if it makes a difference but no difference other than turning the link orange when I do a force local scan. The only settings that I have for the import setting is the UNC path and enabled is checked. I also have watch import folders automatically, scan remote shares every 5 minutes, and scan remote shares while fullscreen video is active all checked. It just seems it can't detect if there are any changes in my watch folder. The folder is on a Windows XP box. I haven't changed anything except upgrade MediaPortal and TVseries to the latest version and it was working perfectly using an older version of MP and TVSeries. I believe I was using MP 1.02 but I don't remember what version TVseries was. So basically this is what's happening:

    1) Delete file from computer no automatic detection from within MP, however when the scan automatically kicks in at the 5 minute interval it does detect it according to the log file but I don't see it do anything within MP, I still see the file in my listings.

    2) Add a file to the watch folder. Again, no instant automatic detection but it does pick it up in the 5 minute interval scan AND it is added successfully while still inside MP and I see it show up in my listing correctly IF it has been added previously before. Also another weird problem is that if the show was never added before, it'll add the show correctly to the series and season and have the correct episode number but it'll be displaying an incorrect title eg.) only showing the release groups name. However a force local scan does fix it.

    1. Deleting files - I used to delete files in Windows explorer, with MP-TVSeries running or offline, and all it got me was headaches and corrupted databases. Enable the setting to delete files from GUI and use the '0' shortkey on your remote/keyboard to then delete from disk only, database only or both. This has been working for me for 7 months now with no sign of corruption at all and it immediatly shows in GUI the results of your action.

If you delete outside of MP-TVSeries you do indeed have to wait till it picks it up and detects the change, but on a non-local drive (as in your case) this means that it only is detected on the interval your configured. However there are settings that can overrule this, such as the "keep reference" and others, and I don't know if you have any of those set. My advice is to just use the GUI delete method, once you start using it, you wonder why you ever did it any other way :)

    2. There have been quite a few fixes to the auto-match system, which if you only use the stable version, haven't been released yet. You can compile your own version from SVN/Source and it should work as expected. There might be other things going on, but without debug enabled log files, showing us exactly what happened (it has to be reproducable as well), it's going to be looking for a needle in the haystack.

The only reason I've been able to help you with this information so far, is because I ran into the same problem myself and either direct or with help of developers found a solution for it.

I'm just curious how come with the new version, if I was to delete via windows explorer, it would corrupt the database when the older version of tvseries I was able to do that. Also, with the old version, even though it was a non local drive, it would detect the changes whether I deleted or added instantly but now you're saying with the new version I have to wait for the scan intervals? I think with the "keep reference" checked it doesn't remove the show from my tvseries. For example, if I delete the file from windows xp and do a local scan, the link turns orange with the keep reference checked and that's not what I want.

Hi deviate, as far as I know there is no corruption issue with deleting your files offline. Myself and im sure many others do that without any problems. Rochess probably just had some bad luck in the past.

I have not heard any problems with the issues you're experiencing, basically you should have 'removable' and 'keep references' unchecked for the import-path.

The new monitor for file changes was needed because on network paths it was unreliable and only sometimes worked for the majority of environments. This is why network paths are monitored at the set interval. Local Drives recognize changes immediately.

Are you able to narrow down your problem? Does this happen for local import paths as well? Can you reproduce with a new database? Attach Debug TVseries logs and some GUI screenshots illustrating the issue.

Ok that is so weird I added a local folder as a test along with the network share (only enabled is checked) and now everything seems to be working. Added and deleted files from both the the local folder and the network share and they were both added and deleted properly. So strange... I'll keep monitoring it and let you know the results. Thanks for all the help.

I've upgrade to the latest tvseries and it's acting screwy again for some reason. It's the same settings I have set up as before and I do not have keep reference. I have my watch folder set at 5 minutes intervals. When I delete a file from windows on another machine, I see from the logs that the change is detected:

Watcher: Performing File Scan on Import Paths for changes
    File monitor: xxx.mkv Deleted

However, when I'm within mediaportal, I do not see the changes reflected. For example, the files are still there? I thought it's suppose to automatically delete them from with mediaportal? When I do a action and force local scan, the "deleted" files are then removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please upgrade to v2.6.1 and if you see a problem attach the logs.
