Since some days TVServer is crashing if certain stations are tuned.
Especially today TVServer crashed every 10-30 minutes while viewing ZDF "Ein Fall für zwei" und "heute". This happened with my media PC (specs above) AND on another PC (don't know if it was simultanously, but could be).
There are other stations where I did not see such crashes - e.g. n-tv for several hours without problems.
The other PC has completely different hardware (P4 / DigiBox USB TV).
In the logs I cannot see any hint.

it happened again

after the news TVServer was running perfect for about one hour. Then the ZDF show "Aktenzeichen XY" Started and after short time TVServer crashed twice.
This time I captured the logs before restarting TVServer.

My media PC currently is running a different TV station (WDR) and did not crash.

Hope, it helps.

u r running an ancient version of tvserver.
plz update to latest , then retry.

could it be ChannelLinkage related ?

Try and disable as much of the fanzy panzy stuff in setuptv...also disable all plugins.
    Its the usual recipe.

I am having the same problem since several weeks now, always using latest SVN (currently 2007 Dec 29). Have been trying MySQL and MSSQL, having problems with DVBS-EPG as well. I am in a sad situation, it is getting that bad that watching TV is almost impossible. It is getting much worse when recording one channel and watching another. All different situations from MP crash, MP stuck, TVserver not reacting, TVserver being terminated happen. Currently the Program guide is blank, does not display any channel, does not start TV as it normally should. I have two DVBS cards, WindowsMCE2005. I hope that the developers will address all these problems, and I will be happy to offer testing assistance.

    no more crash, but...

    hi gibman,

you are right - since I opened the thread I updated to several other releases and right, TVServer did not crash any more. BUT since the crash is gone I have that freeze problem.
If MP is open but untouched for some time and then I try to switch on TV then MP waits forever for something from TVServer and navigation in MP is no longer possible.
TVServer service cannot be stopped (by service control manager) in this situation - only kill task works.
I had the feeling that it was hanging together with EPG grabbing, but not sure - at least it also seems to be important, which channel was viewed before the pause (e.g. ZDF will cause this problem, but not ntv).
I will crosscheck this and try switch off EPG and other features.

    Thanks,
    Gregor

    Hello,

I have the same problems described above. ZDF is a problem. It will be nice if you post your testing results.

    Thanx

    curious test results

I think I need more time to analyse and set up reproducable test procedures.
Currently I am running into different issue (even MP crash) and still cannot find a common origin. The only thing I can see is that it is related to viewing ZDF.
Tomorrow I will be in US for some days and so I don't have the time to do more.

    Currently the finding is:
Start TVService - Start MP - tune ARD-change to ZDF - change back to ARD - switch off TV - wait 5min - switch on TV:
    works fine !
    BUT
Start TVService - Start MP - tune ARD - change to ZDF - switch off TV - wait 5min - switch on TV:
    fails! (reproducable)

What happens (this is irritating) is very different, from what I have seen earlier:
When switching TV on, then TVServer starts timeshifting (for ZDF) but nothing happens in MP (TV LED =off).
When I change channel in MP to ARD, then TVServer does timeshifting for ARD, but still MP does nothing.
btw. in MP the active stream can be seen. Selecting the stream does not work - even if it is not ZDF.

Possible ways to get it working again:
    1. Restart TVServer
    or
    2. Stop timeshifting in TVServer and navigate in MP to a channel that is not ZDF (did not test many) -> MP will show TV.
    or
    3. Change channel in MP, stop timeshifting of that channel in TVServer, press TV on -> MP will show TV.

That seems not to be related to TVServer.
May be the unexpected/diffenrent results are caused by the disabling of all plugins and EPG and channel link check box, which I did before starting any tests.
When I am back I will spend some more time for this - may be with the latest release then.

I have the same problem - but no special channel.

Tried it with Pro7, RTL, VOX, Giga.....

Always the same: on next day the TV-Service did neither response nor took recordings.

No idea, except not using the EPG.

    Any better ideas?

ohh.. - that's a different issue right now.
The ZDF problem was solved some builds ago. Now it seems to be an idle issue.
Yesterday morning my TVserver was frozen also (rev.17086) I will check this morning again.
As it doesn't do more than EPG, I will check tomorrow with EPG disabled.
    Gregor

This morning there was no freeze - so I skip the next test and install Rev17122 instead.
