For a while had some problems with MediaPortal and TvServer not starting up propperly after a reboot.
It just took too long for the network service to become active.

One day, just brouwsing the services running on my computer I noticed that 2 of the important network services are set to start "manual" by default. So, I thought lets chance this in to starting automatic. Well for me this turned out to be a good thought, in addition to the TvServer and MediaPortal starting problems after reboot being gone, also my computer now boots a lot faster.

To make the change go to:

Control Panel ==> Administrative Tools ==> Services

Then change the following services from manual to automatic start:

    • Network Connections

    • Network Location Awareness (NLA)

Like I mentioned before, this did miracles for me. Not only for TvServer and MP, but for everything using the network. I checked these settings on all my computers, and it tuned out that Microsoft has made the default as manual start, don't ask me why, to me this does not make any sence. Anyway, on each computer I noticed a drastic improvement on booting time and less hassles with programms who require network services to be active at startup.

If this really helps this shoud be made "sticky" somehow. Maybe as a recommendation in the wiki?
Sure only after testing and approval it helps.

I still have something messing my startup of TV service, even after doing this fix. :-(
    Any more clues?

can you do a screen dump of the services running (use the same window as where you changed the settings as per this thread)

Can you do a screenshot of all the services prior to networking (A to N)
There might be another service that is delaying the start of the networking service or tvserver.
