I've been having this issue since the first MP 1.0RC, and have been using MP Standby Handler to get around it, but it just isn't reliable enough, so I have decided to see if I can get this properly sorted.

I have my htpc set to go into S3 standby. When it resumes from standby any attempt to view live TV causes MediaPortal to stop responding, and it has to be killed from Task Manager. After a bit of digging I discovered that the reason was that TvService.exe seemed to have completely frozen. Although TvService.exe can be killed from Task Manager, if I try to stop or restart it properly (i.e. from Computer Management -> Services and Applications -> Services) the attempt simply times out with this error: Could not stop the TVService on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I have reinstalled everything many times, and I have just done a(nother) complete reinstall of XP MCE with all updates, and removed all unnecessary hardware (remote receiver, most TV cards), leaving a single Hauppauge DVB-T card. However, the problem remains.

Any help and/or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Neil
