TVService hangs (1 Viewer)

Hello Forum,

since some SVN some days ago TVService stops responding after some time (typically some hours) if being unused. Service is running, no problem is obvious, but if you try to tune to some channel, either for recording or for viewing there does not happen anything.

tv.log shows the following last line:

10.05.2007 00:00:03 4 card:Tune 1 to SMD HD

Normally there is a next line like that:

10.05.2007 00:00:03 4 card:user:privat-1:1:-1 tune DVBS:tv:confused:ES ASTRA SMD HD Freq:12610000 ONID:1 TSID:1112 SID:3231 PMT:4C4 FTA:True LCN:10000 SymbolRate:22000 Modulation:ModQpsk Polarisation:LinearV InnerFecRate:Rate5_6 DisEqc:Level1AA band:Universal

But this line never comes...

Restart of tvservice solves the problem, but is no option for recordings...

Any ideas someone?

Regards,
Markus

Hello again,

looks like it is minutes - not hours.
Now it was less that 30 mins, see attached logfile.

Symptom in MediaPortal is that MediaPortal hangs and has to be killed.

Nice regards,
Markus

    m.woessner,

Did anything came up at the Event Viewer application log?

I just restarted my service this morning because the setup could not connect, probably the same problem although I ran fine last night (apart from needing to press TV on/off/on to make the TV go again once but that is a different issue)

    Thanks for the answers

    joboehl:

There is just a message about the Service being started in event log, nothing else.

    mrkaras:

Looks like I have a different problem.

TVServer management console works fine, up to the point where the TVService gets the command to tune to a channel, then it hangs (as tvservide does not respond). Same as with mediaportal, when it tunes to a channel it will hang as the tvservice hangs.

    Regards,
    Markus

Does no one have this problem?
    Only me?

    No one any ideas?

    Nice regards,

My problem may be a bit different (I have seen again as in my previous post) but on your problem, it is not related to suspend/hibernate is it? even if it is not you might want to make the service restart when you wake. It might make no difference but if the service has been restarted more recently than otherwise it may run just that bit longer, not really a fix but hopefully it will make it a bit more usable.

    Hi,

no, my problem definitely is not related to power management.

The PC runs 24/7 without power management enabled.

    Nice regards,
    Markus

Looks like this also is significantly different from my problems.

TVservice.exe does not crash, it simply stops responding (see logfile in my second post).

    Regards,
    Markus
