Hi guys. I have a strange problem. After having watched TV via MP, other DVB apps give errors.
DVBViewer: "No hardware available!"
ProgDVB: "Run DBA Graph error!" "Device not started!"
FireDTV Viewer: no error but just no picture and no sound.

The problem is gone after stopping the TVService but starting it again also brings back the problem. MP's TVService just doesn't seem to release my DVB-C card (FloppyDTV) after closing MP. The only thing to get the apps working again, is reinstalling my tvcard drivers. A cold boot doesn't even help. Off course the problem is back after watching tv via MP once.

Any ideas on this, because I suspect this being the source of similar ForTheRecord errors (which is currently uninstalled for testing purposes by the way). Thank you guys!

hmm, i'm pretty sure thats how the tv service is supposed to work
stopping MP doesn't stop the tvservice it only stops MP, the tvservice will continue to run and have control of the cards
the service also starts a boot time

i may have interpreted your problem wrong but thats the way i see it

The only time we would recommend using other\original software is for testing, TVService needs to be disabled for this.

Trying to run any instance of multiple software that accesses the same hardware is not advisable at all.

I understand that I shouldn't run other DVB software at the same time MP has tasks (recordings) planned, but in between recordings I thought I should be able to run other DVB apps. I already know why TVService wouldn't release my tvcard: it was constantly grabbing EPG from the stream. I disabled it via TVServer Configuration > TV Servers > selected my card > Edit > uncheck "Allow this card to be used for EPG grabbing". About the external DVB apps: it's not that I prefer other apps, but after installing ForTheRecord I can't get MP to show TV anymore (feel free to reply here on in my thread on the ForTheRecord forums). That's why I had to resort to some other software. Thank you.:)

My ForTheRecord issue has also been resolved. Solution can be found in the thread on the ForTheRecord forums.
