Ugly DVD Subtitles (1 Viewer)

My DVD subtitles appear very blocky and ugly. Is there anything I can do to alter the fonts or the rendering to get smooth normal fonts like the ones I get whilst playing back other video?

DVD subtitles are multiplexed bitmap overlays in the DVD stream. So you'd have to re-author the DVD to get nicer fonts for your DVD. :wink:

Ahh i see your point. I guess on the upside some dvds must have better subtitles than others if they are pre rendered? I could swear they look worse than my home dvd player, must just be a bad disk.

They are pre-rendered, yes. And some DVD authorers use better fonts, some use worse ones. But some players cheat a bit by softening them, that could also be a cause for the results you experience. MP can't do such at the moment.
