    Hi,

I've just installed my dual DVB-S2 card, configured it to use Astra & Hotbird 1. It works fine - stacks of channels!!

I have started using xmltv instead of the DVB-T epg, and xmltv appears to be grabbing the channels I have selected (although there are some channels on Astra & Hotbird1 that are not listed in Radio Times). The "TV Guide" has not updated the channels at all and just lists the DVB-T channels only, as it did prior to adding the second card.

How do I get the TV Guide to update and show all the channels I have selected in the TV Server.:D

    Hi

Assuming you are using MediaPortal v1.1.0 you need to do the following:

    1. Open MediaPortal - TV Server Configuration
    2. Select Plugins in the left window
    3. Tick WebEPG
    4. Select WebEPG that has now appeared in the left window under Plugins.
    5. In the General tab Grab Day = 14, Write programs to = TV Server database, Auto Mapping Country = United Kingdom. You may wish to untick the Delete old programs before import as this will wipe the guide including details grabbed from DVB-T.
    6. Select the TV Mapping tab and select your channel group from the drop down and hit the Import button. Then press the Auto Map button.
    7. You may need to remap any channels that are not correctly identified in the Channel Name column by amending the Mapping Details at the bottom of the page. Select the channel in the top window and then press the ... buton next to the channel name in the bottom window. Expand the structure in the pop-up window to find UK and Radio Times and channel.
    8. Go back to the General tab and press the Save button. This used to be very important and I think is still important or nothing imports.
    9. Then hit Grab now! When the Grab status is "Finishing..." the guide should be populated.

Alternatively if you are using Astra 2A/B/C/D and Eurobird 1 satellites you may wish to DJBlu's excellent Freesat or BSkyB EPG grabber https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-development-no-feature-request-here-48/sky-uk-uk-freesat-epg-43261/. Note that in TV Server 1.1.0 the Freesat grabber is included. It would appear the instructions have changed slightly as the Brit Shorts tv channel used for freesat epg has recently been replaced with a radio channel named Freesat info. DJBlu has recently provided an updated version that also includes the BSkyB grabber

    I hope this helps

Thanks for the detail Mew. I'm using 1.0.2 - just getting everything working, so the thought of upgrading just makes me groan.

I did look at DJBlu's grabber, (in fact I've still got the "setup" pdf on taskbar) I was just hoping there was an easier way...if ever there is an easy way with MP

Are you on Astra/Eurobird ?? I thought there was a Ch4 HD and ITV HD...can't seem to find them

    Hi

CH4 HD is encrypted by BSkyB which may be why you can't see it. It is Free to View rather than Free to Air so needs a BSkyB card.

ITV HD is a datastream (as it is a red button service) and shows as channel name 10510.

If I can remember using MediaPortal 1.0.2 and XMLTV importer then thing I tended to forget was the Save button on the mappings of the plugin. Without that easy to forget step it would go through the motions but not import any programme data and the count would be zero.

The solution I am currently using is Digiguide; you get 14 days+ info and the data is better than RadioTimes / DVB EPG (Contains data for channels like ITV HD, has correct series info, is regularly updated) This combined with a DG2XML skin and an app called XMLTVGui will output your xmltv file.

It does cost (something like £9 a year) but the quality of data makes it worth it for me. There is a 30 day trial version available. Only issue is getting hold of the DG2XML skin which is a little difficult to track down.

    Thanks Mew.

Whilst the new Satellite card works great, configuring the EPG is really bogging me down. Tried DJBlu's grabber but it seems to mess up the TV Server config, so when MP runs it cannot find the TV Server anymore.

I think I may upgrade to MP 1.1.0 - just need to read up how to do this. It is a bit of a pain as I had got everything working really well i.e. TV Series plugin, Movies Plugin, streaming TV for BBC iPlayer...etc, etc. Even my remote control & LCD display work great too!
