Hi, guys. My first posting

I am trying to tune my Compro Videomate 300 PCI card to my local stations, but the settings for my part of the UK don't appear in the dropdown list.

I live between the Sutton Coldfield and Waltham transmitters and receive better reception for different channels from both transmitters.

I searched the forums and have been able to find some settings for Sutton Coldfield which I have put into the dvbt.xml file as follows:

<country name="UK - Sutton Coldfield" offset="167">
<carrier frequency="634166" bandwidth="8" />
<carrier frequency="658166" bandwidth="8" />
<carrier frequency="682166" bandwidth="8" />
<carrier frequency="714166" bandwidth="8" />
<carrier frequency="722166" bandwidth="8" />
<carrier frequency="746000" bandwidth="8" />
</country>

Having done this, the card autotunes easily and picks up good reception for most of the channels, except ITV and ITV2.

I now need to add the tuning parameters for Waltham. Can anybody help me with these?

Many thanks

Andrew

If ITV1 and ITV2 are the problem then it is Mux2 that is weak, its on 658000 from Sutton Coldfield (you don't need to put the offset in - they should read 634000, 658000 etc).

Mux2 is on 490000 from Waltham, so you can just substitute this figure for the 658166 you have in at the minute. Then do a rescan.

ukfree.tv is a good place for all this info.

    Hi,

    Just thought if anyone else had problems with setting up channels that this might help. I was on the Hauppauge forums and found this useful tool; as I found previously I was having to do a full UK channel scan to pick all channels:

    Scan Channels BDA

    I assume it only works for hauppauge cards, not sure if its UK only or not, but basically it will provide a text dump of the output View attachment 1783.

    From this you can get the correct frequencies. I realised that for me at least the UK Crystal Palace frequencies in the SVN dvbt.xml file where slightly wrong.

    Changing to the following allowed me to receive all channels:

    Code:
    <country name="UK - Crystal Palace" offset="167">
    		<carrier frequency="482000" bandwidth="8" />
    		<carrier frequency="506000" bandwidth="8" />
    		<carrier frequency="530000" bandwidth="8" />
    		<carrier frequency="538000" bandwidth="8" />
    		<carrier frequency="562000" bandwidth="8" />
    		<carrier frequency="578000" bandwidth="8" />
    	</country>

    Hope this helps someone else.

    Here's something I used a while ago. Link is outdated; new location is here. Judging by the feedback I got in the thread it should work with non-hauppauge cards as long as you have BDA drivers. Instructions here

    Hope it helps

    Thanks Guys

    Thanks to both of you - I am now fixed up.

    The scanchannelsbda worked a treat. Using the UK version made life much easier.

    I was able to pinpoint exactly what my DVB-T card was picking up at the best signal strength and made the changes to the xml file.

    Tuned a treat.

    All I need to do now is work out the guide/grabber. Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Andrew

    EPG of DVB stream always worked for me.

    Otherwise WebEPG also good, just remember to double click what you select, saves time.
