Unable to play mpeg video inside .mkv (1 Viewer)

All of my videos/movies (avc, vc1, mpeg) are in mkv containers. MP is able to play the avc and vc1 videos without any problems. However, MP will not play any mpeg videos that are contained in mkv containers, even though these same videos play fine in other media players (MediaPlayer Classic, mplayer, etc). MP will play mpeg videos if they are not stored in am mkv (ie have .mpg extension).

The MP log messages for an attempt to play a mpeg video in a mkv container are as follows:

Any thoughts as to why these videos will not play?

Do these files play in Windows Media Player, if not the required codec to recognise mpeg inside mkv is not installed.

You could try enabling mpeg support in ffdshow if installed, but unlikely as your log says CoreAVC, btw what mpeg codecs have you got installed.
