With some unofficial patches, I got TV server to run on Windows 2008. Well, almost. Everything that, for whatever reason, has to build a graph to start streaming TV, results in an error message Unable to start/create graph. Because of this, it can do everything execpt actually stream a TV channel anywhere (to record to disk, or to a MediaPortal client).
I know win2008 is not officially supported, but my server just has win2008 on it, and I need it that way for other purposes. So of course I'm not about to downgrade to win2003 or a desktop OS; my server just simply can't work like that. Blame Microsoft, of course, but still I don't believe this error should be that hard to solve. It's probably missing some DirectShow filters.
But which ones??

I thought of installing a virtual machine, but Hyper-V doesn't support redirecting raw PCI devices (and USB, which I'll be needing in the future, for the smartcard reader). VirtualBox is not an option because it cannot gracefullt run as a service. But I guess this is a totally different discussion far beyond the scope of this forum
