I rebuilt my HTPC last week and decided to upgrade from my decidedly old version of MP (0.2.2) :p

I originally just reinstalled Win XP SP2 since it's what I run on all of my computers without issue... but when trying to run the new MP I would get the VRM9 rendering error and be forced to alt-tab and close it. Other than that MP ran fine.

These forums said that the problem was due to not having SP3 so I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to SP3. I ended up doing a completely fresh install again and going straight to SP3 before installing the rest of my drivers, etc.

Now however, when I go to open either the main MP or the MP Config, it displays the splash screen, runs through the loading message, etc..... but then it disappears and nothing loads. When I C-A-D, I find that the MP process is running, sucking up 50% CPU usage, but it will never actually load.

Strangely, I then tried to install Meedio and having a similar loading error! This may or may not be related but thought I'd mention it.

I am currently back running MP 0.2.2 and it loads and runs fine... but I'd prefer to have the neat features of the new version :(

I have tried reinstalling all the required components but nothing has helped.

Any ideas?

Edit: I have also uninstalled and reinstalled MP with no luck. There is no actual "crash" here either so no error messages etc... just a perpetual hanging process.

Chances are the onboard graphics memory setting needs tweaking in the BIOS, change the memory from auto to 256mb and hopefully it should now load.

Unfortunately I am not seeing any such setting in the BIOS. The only graphics-related memory setting is for SLI.

I just tried an install of 1.0 RC2 that I had and that also suffers from the same problem.

I am frustrated that the ONLY thing in my system that has changed is SP2->SP3. All the driver versions, etc are the same. :(

In that case logs would be needed, use the logs collector from your start menu, skip steps 1 and 2, upload created zip file to here using the advanced + feature.

Good news: I got Meedio to work (it was just a plugin loading error so the error must be unrelated to MP's error)

Bad news: I don't want to use Meedio :(

Any news on this issue? I can't even get into the config to see if a plugin is causing the issue or not!

Nope :( Nothing I've tried has worked.... using XBMC at the moment because it works like a dream... except I'd rather use MP for the hardware acceleration

I've had to do exactly the same thing. XBMC has so far run perfectly....I have not ahd one issue at all. I would rather have MP working though because I want to make good use my my TV card.

What are your system specs? Are you running XP SP3 as well?
