I'm not sure what has happened, I've had media portal running for years and now all of a sudden the tv part died. It wasn't related to an upgrade or anything. I have reinstalled both the server and client part but that didnt help. The problem is as soon as try to start the tv, I get:

unable to start timeshift
Unknown error occured.

I'm totaly lost, I've tried everything I can think of. I've attached the logs. Any help would be extremly appreciated.

I have downloaded mytheatre just to see if that works in order to rule out anything with my computer setup, cables or something stupid like that. And it works in mytheatre.

are you using custom folders for the tv cards?

sometimes this error occurs if you haven created the folders on the hard disks or if the path is incorrect in tvserver settings.

    I'm having this error too.

I can't view channels in mediaportal and when I try to preview them intvserver settings it also gives me an "unknown error."

The crazy thing is I've occasionally been able to get the channel to view in the preview, but then if I close it and try again I get the error.

Makes no sense to me, any ideas?

    Hello,

I am having the exact same problems. I start up PC and TV-server set-up. I can preview all channels. Than I start up Mediaportal and the TV freezes at the first frame. When changing channels I get the message: "Start timeshifting niet mogelijk, Geen video/audio waargenomen" translated "Unable to start time shifting, No video/audio detected". I am using a Hauppauge HVR 1100 which works fine with WinTV.

Just when typing this message I found that MP works with the HVR-1100 but when I start the TV it starts recording directly. Therefore only the first frame is shown. I cannot get the TV to play live television, it starts directly time shifting. When I fast forward I can see that it recorded the television show. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

An additional note: The "auto turn timeshift on when entering My TV" option is greyed out and the minutes are set to 30 and also greyed out (not accesible).
