I had set the recording path to "\\Data\Aufnahmen" which led to the issue described here.

After changing the path to "C:\MyVideos" everything works fine.

I hope that someone can solve this.

I assume you are recording over the network. If you were recording local... what would be the point of using a UNC path. I work for a scanning company and when ever people call in and are having problems that’s the first thing we ask. "are you scanning over the network?" Anything at any given time could happen on the network so I would guess it's something with that. I don't know what the DEV's official stand on recording over the network.. but I would assume they couldn't guarantee anything like that.

I am using a Shuttle in my living room, which is attached to my LAN. I will soon add two 1TB NAS stations to this LAN - one for storing my data, the other as a backup system. I want to store all my to-be-backed-up data in one place - my music, my movies, ... and my recordings.

I am sure that this is a bug since in all other places (e.g. Movies, Music) UNC paths are supported and work perfectly.

There is a big difference between using a network path to WATCH video and music from. I have over 300 GB on a server sitting in my garage. The problem is not with using a UNC path or a mapped drive. It's recording a live stream. If you are playing a video or listening to music and you lose your connection, your music stops for a couple seconds and then starts up again. MP3's and vidoes are made for that.

The recording engine is made to send a constant stream of data to it when it records. When recording to the local hard drive, this is not a problem, but when recording over the network all sorts of things can happen. A lot of times the recording engine doesn't know what to do and usually just quits if it can't write the data somewhere.

I am not saying it can't be done, but you just might run into issues.

Thanks for enlightening me. I was not aware of this fact.

O Frabjous Joy! That seems to have done the trick. Thank you so much for your help and advice, CyberSimian. I hadn't thought of deleting the various folders, but I'll bear that in mind for any future disasters. Now I can record King & Conqueror on Sunday! Cheers Ralph

OK, I found a way to make it work. I used to use the grabber but a few years back it disappeared on FreeSat DVBS. That is when I changed to EPG Collector. The extra benefit is that it collects from the Sky platform so it will give EPG for all the FreeSat channels plus the unencrypted movie channels on the Sky platform. It also allows me to pick the channels dedicated...
