Recently I had made a number of TV recordings that I wanted to keep. However I used the CleanUp function before properly saving them. The result is they are no longer visible in the MP Recordings list. However when I got to the recordings directory on my h/d I can still see the files with the .dvr-ms extension. I've tried using VideoReDo to convert these files to mpeg and place them in the MyMovies directory, however VideoRedo can't process the files. I think there is some setting in the file that has been changed when I deleted them with the cleanup. Is there some way to recover these files?

Thanks

Not to sure but I think once you hit cleanup, those files are deleted from the disk and could only be recovered using some undelete utility.

Check the sizes of the dvr-ms files you have. I have seen some files that are a few kB that are just references to the actual video file that are hidden. Sometimes those files get deleted only after a system restart.

The files won't play with MP or WMP. Good files play OK with both packages. Which brings me to the conclusion something must be changed in the dvr-ms file when it is "cleaned up"
Any ideas?
