When playing recorded ATSC broadcasts, Closed Captioning is displayed and can not be turned off, even though it has not been requested.

MediaPortal 1.10 beta 1 did not have this problem.

When using the MPEG2 Video Codec "MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)" , the problem does not occur, so the issue maybe specific to the CyberLink codec. However, the CyberLink codec is necessary on this hardware because it supports the NVidia PureVideo hardware acceleration.

I can confirm that I had the same problem with the PDVD8 codec. Switching to the PDVD9 codec resolved that, although then I couldn't turn on closed captioning at all.

I would like to see a graph of this (but don't see in the logs)
with RC1 there's no CC enabled and must be something in cyberlink thats forces it on. (I think Cyberlink has subtitle process loaded and cc builtin)

In RC1 I've suddenly started seeing "line 21 decoder 2" connected to Cyberlink's CC Pin in Graphstudio, I'm assuming this is all related.

    yup,

even when you don't add line21 in the post processing... its there by default (as shown in graphstudio/edit)

I would be happy to provide a graph if someone can give me some guidance on how to do so.

My understanding was that the graph was supposed to be included in the debug data when running under XP. Perhaps that is another bug to report?

Please let me know what additional information I need to provide.

Indeed, I certainly haven't added any post processing at all, ever.

Yep, got that on my system also. Never added anything to post processing, nor do I have subtitles enabled. Will post logs if required.

I don't think theres any harm in having line21 added. It's just there for cases if you want to display CC which I think that it makes it easier to turn on or off the CC (using the remote) just as a DVD for subtiltle can do this for thier movies. NA DVD have CC embedded as well but we can't use (yet, I hope)

Line21 only works with DVD or movies that has CC embedded (NA)
NOTE: to view CC from TV or DVB-A,DVB-S.DVB-O (or TS) Line21 alone will not work it needs a parser added (in my case I use Core CC parser)

so.. what I'm seeing is a good thing when I see a Line21 in the graph which makes me think that it will be easy to implement CC via the remote. (on/off).
sample.. watching a hockey game, to have the ability to CC turned off. (without going into the config to remove the processer)

Im not a expert on whats involve in graph building and how it works when its off or on from the remote (line21) for DVD and (core cc parser + line21) for DVB.
I know for a fact that when I added CC parser.. it auto added the line21 before it was disabled ages ago (I'm still not going to ask why it was disabled......)

but I sure can test this for the DEV :D

:D DEV for all your doing.. great work (I guess Im trying to get some brownie points here)
Im just trying to pass a much info for the DEV on a understanding what this CC is (It so much better viewing than the subtitle on the DVDs)
I think this is something that many are going to use when watching TV.. the ability to watch TV while the wife/kids are sleeping.

This is confirmed bug. CC usage must be explicitly denied via interface if added to graph and that is now missing for tv.
