unwanted standby - this is weird (1 Viewer)

MP puts PC into standby when in the home screen and just left there - not always, but mostly (after about 5 minutes). It's not the basic home screen, but the one where you can scroll up and down between the options (TV, settings, pictures, etc.)

I do have powerscheduler enabled. XP has no power features enabled except the standard XP screen saver.

Has anybody seen that? I don't want it to do that.

Hi,
Which version of MP do you use & do you mean when in MP Home & nothing plays?
You could also attach your logs, so we can see whats happening...

I use 0.2.2.0, and have installed an SVN a couple days back. Yes, it happens when nothing plays. I have done some more tests: it seems like when it happens, it's at the exact time the windows screensaver should come on. So basically, instead of starting the screensaver, the system goes into standby. As I said, it does not happen all the time, just sometimes.
One more thing: I can wake up the system with any button on the remote, and everything is just fine (no crash).

Now here is a dumb question: where do I find the log files, and which filenames am I looking for?

Hi,
If you have enabled PowerScheduler & the time it's set to 5 min, the system will suspend/hibernate on that time..
You can find the logs in "installation folder"\MediaPortal\log & it's the MediaPortal.log which will tell..

Roy, I thought the times in powerscheduler are for pre-recording wake-up and post recording standby only. Does powerscheduler put the system into standby after some idle time?

I have attached the log file, and yes, it looks like you are right: powerscheduler is in there! Strange that it happens only sometimes!

Hi,
The first from top (PowerSceduler configuration) it's how long before recording + pre (pre & post time it's set in recording options) the computer should start, the second time (idle in home before system shuts down) it's the time for hibernate/suspend etc. Set it to 0, which mean never shut down.

Yes, it's exactly the 4 minutes that I have put in "Idle time" before standby. And I thought that was only meant to be activated after a recording for which powerscheduler woke up the computer from standby. This is strange. I would like to have powerscheduler only shut down the system after a recording was completed for which power scheduler also woke up the system. I guess that's not possible?

Also, is there anything serious about the exceptions in the log file?

No you can't set this only for after a recording event, but you should post that as a suggestion/improvement for PowerScheduler.

The error it's nothing to worry about MP recovers from that.
