updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1. Rebooted.
Now there's a "Setup database connection" dialog box appearing and wants me to enter a password for the database.

All I can remember is that I chose MySQL and not SQLServer back when I originally installed things. I didn't select a password, so I don't know what password it's looking for. I've tried all my own personal ones as well as "mp", "mediaportal", etc. but no luck.

    1) Why is it prompting, and
    2) What's the default password?

I assume everyone else will be getting this error so somebody let me know and I'll update this post.

I tried searching but couldn't find it via google (1.0.1 is too new to appear in Google searching).

The answer turns out to be that i'm using the SQLServer database, and the password is MediaPortal

    Oh - thanks guys

You have no idea how frustrating that was

i ran into a similar prob. the default password was mentioned in the setup guide. hitting the "test" button worked without any problem. the save button kicked in (was grayed out before the test) but nothing happens, when i try to save. :(

it might be an issue with appropriate write permissions, but i get no error msg (where is that password config saved?). the tvservice still fails to start due to a password failure.

    any ideas?

    Hi,
Well if you used the default(didn't change it) password still is MediaPortal (as mentioned in this thread several times), if you changed it & don't remember then uninstall & install fresh again.

the pw *is* the default. it even is accepted by the "test" button. the problem is that nothing happens when i try to save it after testing.

reinstalling might be a last option if all else fails. thanks. but it sounds like loosing the scheduled recordings. so i'm still trying to avoid that solution (call me lazy ;))

again: does anybody know, where that password is saved? maybe a manual tweak will solve the problem.

    Hi,
If you used the default password & type it in & test button says ok, then it won't help getting the password from anywhere. Post the logs so we can see what the error is & why you can't save it.

i don't need to *get* any pw. i need to *set* it. the problem is simply that saving the *known* password doesn't work. i'm hoping that mp stores that password in one of the xml-files. if i'd know which one, i could try to edit that file manually or at least check permissions for the file/directory.

the logs simply say that the tvservice has troubles to connect to the database. that doesn't make me wonder, since the password isn't saved yet. again: hitting the save button in the database dialog doesn't cause any reaction.

    Hi,
Well the problem is if it doesn't save it something it's wrong with your install & config file not created as it should & you can't startup tv-server or setuptv.
The file used it's in "%ProgramData%\MediaPortal TV Server" .
If you don't post files we simply can't help you since everything it's logged there, for further now post logs or install fresh ;)

    Regards
