Hi all,
This is more of a general request for best practices. Since my wife was away yesterday, I decided to take the plunge and try the latest MP version and after a day of struggling ended up reverting back to 0.2 just before she came home!!!
I am looking for advice on the following things
I Have UK cable (telewest) STB which I connect to my Hauppage PVR 500 dual tuner card via composite. Originally in MP version 1.xxx you had to add a CVBS channel and download the channel list and assign channel inputs to composite 1. Since then, with each new version, I have just dropped my original channel list file into the MP directory and everything worked fine. Using TV server v3 I could not see how to replicate this, I would get an error about the tuner not being able to receive a signal from CVBS..
I did go through the videos (which were very helpful) but couldn't work out what I was doing wrong..
Can someone give me a few pointers for getting an STB to work with TV server v3 via composite as adding the composite output did not seem to work for me..?
I also encountered problem with the SQL Express - everything installed fine, but after a reboot the tv server service would not start as it complained about the user not having permissions, although my MP user is an admin of my HTPC box - How do I give that user admin rights within SQL????
I have a DVB-T card which I was able to get working and receive TV, though MP was very slow, and crashed several times, I have the logs created from the debug tool, but suspect it was caused more by my incorrect set up rather than a MP problem, which is why I am posting here.
The main bugbear I need help with is the getting an STB box to work with TV server 3 - if someone can help me with that I am sure that with enough digging around I can fix the rest. I just want to know that nest time the missus is out for a while I can sneak a quick upgrade in without her realising and then sit back and watch her amazement at some of the new capabilities
In the meantime 0.2 is working fine...
Many Thanks
Martin
