    Hi Mediaportal people!

I just went from media browser to this insanely great media center replacement called Mediaportal! And I LOVE it! It just works, well, i needed some tweaks, new skins and some plugins. But it was all really easy to set up, even though i dont have that much computer knowledge, and a reputation for being stupid. hehe.

However I do have a little issue. I'm currently transfering files via a usb dongle. And I was wondering if you guys knew how to activate file transfer inside of mediaportal. Like when i put in the usb dongle, something just pops up and asks if i wanna move my files to my harddrive.

Thanks again for an awsome program! :D

    Hi and welcome,

There is no need to use Mediaportal to move files and the following method would be quicker and easier anyway.
You could make this happen automatically by simply creating an autorun.inf file and put that on the root of the usb drive.
Put a command in the Autorun.inf to run a batch file that contains something like the following:
    move /y files\*.* c:\<some folder>
where c:\<some folder> is the place you want the files to go. I'd advise creating a folder on the USB (\files) and putting everything in that otherwise, you'd remove the autorun.inf & bat file everytime you put in the pc.
Naturally autorun would have to be enabled for the USB drive. Due to viruses, etc. this is often turned off (as it should). I recommend turning it off once you have done all of your transfers, so you don't auto-infect your new HTPC. If any of the above is confusing, remember "google" is your friend. If you are still stuck, I can give you hand.

    Regards,

sry for a late reply! But thanks! I worked it out by fiddling around with network settings, and thus resulting in me buying a new router. Hehe.
