I'm looking for a good usb2 tuner as well. The MSI Mega SKY580 seems to be on a few of the forum threads as a good usb2 tuner and it looks like the latest 0.2rc version of MediaPortal now supports it. Search the forums for that card and see what you find.
Bought one of these cards and to be honest its a**e!! The tuner in it is really bad. I can pick up all of the freeeview channels perfectly on my two set-top boxes and my LifeView PCI card but cant pick up anything on the MSI MegaSky 580 at all.
Oh, and the supplied software refuses to even tune the card despite being updated to the latest version which "fixes" all of the issues. Not good.
I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-900, but only for DVB. It's an hybrid tuner, the analog part is software renderer, so not directly supported by MP; no problem because I have a PVR-350 for that. It works very well for most channels with the internal antenna that it has, because the building's has not been adaptef for DVB yet... I've also used an Airis G807 and worked well, no problems either using the larger internal antenna, the small one just doesn't make it.
Hi Gcarr, thanks for the reply, I downloaded the file and reinstalled it in Win7 Pro, it work, but only for the TV tuner and not the FM tuner. :-(.
It was worth trying anyway.

Actually I solved this myself. I did have the correct driver (it was the only one which would work). But on the drivers download page, there was an additional item called "TBS6281se V2 Change Mode Tool". There was zero documentation to accompany this. I downloaded it and ran it. It is a tool to detect the current run state of both...
