USB tuners can have poor design, poor manufacturing etc...can be flimsy and break in ur hands when u pick them up or plug/unplug...so if i could i would go with a PCI card..if not a PCI-e card to be honest
any reception u may get from a usb tuner would be terrible at best and u always need it connected to a wall antenna

That seems to have done the trick.
Thank you so much for your help and advice, CyberSimian. I hadn't thought of deleting the various folders, but I'll bear that in mind for any future disasters. Now I can record King & Conqueror on Sunday!

Well, the log doesn't show any problems. I can see correctly tuned channels in the log. It seems to me that the tuner works fine.
Can you copy the created ts file(located in your timeshift folder) somewhere else while in channel preview and try to play it in VLC or MPC-HC?
