USB-UIRT Built in support not working (1 Viewer)

I have downloaded the latest MP as of 6-3-09 and configured my USB-UIRT in the MP configuration.

I programmed my remote which works perfectly in MP

However, after learning the buttons of my DirecTV remote and setting MP to "Let MediaPortal control your settopbox", the TEST works great and the USB-UIRT sends the commands, but in the MP application, it does not trigger.

I'm exhausted. Anyone know why not?

The in-build USB-UIRT support isn't very good maintained, cause there is a much better solution available. Have a look at IR Server Suite.

If that is true, is is truly unfortunate. I am one of those people who prefer to keep an application as light as possible without multiple add-ons to keep track of and maintain. I would much rather be able to activate a core feature than add more variables to the mix.

I hope at some point the development team addresses this issue since it is a fairy necessary function of an otherwise great piece of software they've got going.

When I started using MP I thought the same, but now I use IrSS

I think that we rather remove the in-build support than further maintain/update it. There are also other limitations of the in-build USB-UIRT support, that you probably didn't seen yet

I still think basic functions like that would be nice to have integrated. It's kind of like buying a car and having to go to the steering wheel store to pick one up before you could drive it home!

You're right, more or less, but our resources are limited and other things just got higher priorities. Due to that it's not really wise to do things twice, e.g. programming things that already exists at another place.
Anyway you just have more possibilities with IrSS and I think you will like it

That's OK. Just keep right on on the priorities!

It's an awesome application even though a little scattered and confusing with all the hands in the pot, but that's the nature of opensource. I've used SageTV for years, and it is no better, and in many ways worse on the confusing front, and only select people have access to that application.
