Use one CAM on two TV-cards... is it possible? (1 Viewer)

Hi!

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to do any funny business, I gladly pay for my TV-service.

I'm testing a setup with two FireDTV (FloppyDTV) DVB-T cards, which both has a CI-slot.
One of these has a CAM with a valid subscription, which is working perfectly. What I now want to do, is to get a two-tuner setup, where I don't have to get an extra CAM. I actually do have an extra valid subscription, so I'm not trying to cheat here, I just want to try to use the existing CAM, instead of spending $200 on a new one.

Is this in any way possible? I'm talking about sharing the CAM decryption information from one TV-card to another? No...?

    Hi

No, that's not possible. It would have to be supported by the tuner drivers themselves in a similar way to what Digital Devices do with their MTD Octopus setup. Of course as you know, you could probably use a softCAM server of some kind to share the card, but we don't support that kind of setup.

I've used Softcam earlier, but this is using CAS7 which seems to be impossible to emulate.

Okay, so it may not be possible at all then. I can't confirm or deny that because I truly know nothing about softCAM plugins and I've never used them...

Regarding the Digital Devices MTD Octopus setup: there is a disadvantage that you should be aware of. If your CAM supports it then you can share the CAM with more than one tuner. However, each tuner can only decrypt one channel at a time. With your current setup you should be able to decrypt multiple channels on one mux/transponder if your CAM supports it...

The answer is NO, Generally speaking ,one CAM can work with one TV-cards. CAM should be accordant with the smart card.
