is it possible to make a user-defined aspect ratio in MP?
Reason: I have a 32" CRT Philips TV. TV runs in Automatic-mode means if input 4:3 the TV zoom to 16:9 (named "superzoom") aspect ration in this mode is a mix between 4:3 an 16:9. If input is 16:9 the tv switch to mode named "Breitbild".
Now I Use MP in "Superzoom" an the skin is out of visable area.
Wenn I use "breitbild"-mode (real 16:9 ratio) and MP skin 16:9 it's ok but I found not the correct aspect ratio for 4:3 playback.
A further reason is to get the better resolution in 4:3.

Have you set the pixel ratio in MP settings? I think it's under GUI settings. You should set it so the square is an actual square, not a rectangle.

in actuelly settings - automaticmode on TV - i see square.
The reaons for the new way i want is:

    - higher resolution on TV (Set the TV allway to Widescreen-mode for lower overscan)
    - skin in visable area on TV
    - Use MP for switch between 16:9 and "superzoom"-mode (for 4:3) => only one remote (Haupaugge) to watch TV and (see first) bester resolution allways

I'll second thkogel's suggestion. I used to own a Philips TV too and the superzoom function was OK for 4:3 source. Actually, what superzoom does is: crop a few lines from the top and bottom and multiply vertically. Again, very reasonable for 4:3 source.

What we're looking for is a feature which recognizes the aspect ratio of the source image and switches to the 'correct' aspect ratio setting, just like an ordinary TV does.

    Please comment.
