I wonder if it is possible to send stereo audio (PCM) over HDMI (to my tv) and at the same time over s/pdif as a AC3/ DTS bitstream for my 5.1 receiver.

Hi Insan3

I am sorry to say that NO, you cannot do that, because for windows, HDMI audio output and SPDIF/Optical output are different logical soundcards, so (AFAIK) there is no way to do what you want.

However I remember that older video cards with HDMI output (the very first ones) they need a wire to connect to SPDIF motherboard out, to be able to send audio over HDMI (they have not logical audio playback device built in) so if this is your case, or if you can get you hands on a card like this (which I haven´t seen one in a while) all you have to do is to divide the SPDIF signal and send it simultaneously to the card, and to your device (depend on the motherboard you are using, on some SPDIF and Optical outputs are in parallel, some others (like the new realtek soundcard threat them as a separate output, in that case you are out of luck :) ).
