My scenario each time I come home from a vacation:

1. Plug-in my digital camera to my pc
2. Copying all the pictures to a folder on my computer
3. Changing the folder name to something like “Summer vacation 2007”, “London 2006” and so on

2 years later watching the folders, I can remember that I was on a vacation in 2007 but not where.
I can remember that I was in London in 2006 but when watching the pictures I can’t really remember where they are taken and watch are on it.
"I can’t even remember the exactly date for these vacations......
Yeah I'm a stupid idiot who can't even remember my own name..."

The meaning with this plug-in is to organize your vacation pictures.
All the information will be stored in xml-files so you will not lose your descriptions if you uninstall MP, or remove the folders from one location to another.

The first version will contain following functions:
- Automatic detection when adding/removing a vacation folder
- Works through the MPInstaller plug-in

Vacations overview:
- Showing information of all the vacations
o Name
o Picture
o Description
o Country
o City
o Start and end date
- Editing all of the vacation information within MP

Vacation content:
- Showing a list over all the pictures
- The selected picture
o Show in big size
o Show date taken
o Show user description
- Editing the user description

To-come-functions:
- Slideshow
- Multi-language support
- Wide-screen layout
- GPS-Coordinates
- Backup
o Just the xml-files
o Xml-files and pictures
- On-The-Road program (Write the vacation and picture information on-the-road while you remeber it)

When the first version is ready it will be attached to this thread and the MPInstaller.

I know there are still a lot of bugs and features missing, but let me hear your opinion

The last koppel of days, I have working on the load time of the vacation the first time you open it, because it get some information and creates thumbnails.

As it is now, it only supports .jpg files

I also have thousands of photos and would definitely try this out.

Question: What is the possibility to store certain tags in the jpeg exif fields rather than a seperate xml-file?

It would be so cool to have for example the description stored inside the jpeg. I can then copy that file to someone else and they will still have the description.

Understandably, most of your own fields will have to be in the seperate xml file.

I agree with Rekenaar - why not just allow tagging/searching. It could be done in a database or some other method (xml file or in the exif fields), but to have ability to tag and search and provide a slideshow based on the tagging keywords would be GREAT!

That would also be my first choice. But if that does not happen I will gladly look at a plugin to provide the functionality in the mean time.

THDBASED this is my first plugin, and I will not begin to change in MyPictures at this point.

Isn't GoogleMaps able to show you pictures according to the place your viewing? Wouldn't that be another possible feature - to show where you have been on vacation with google maps and display some additional photo material?

luksmann yeah thats why I added GPS-coordinates... it would be really nice to have! but I have to research some more on who it will be saved.

I will recomend that you do not try it out on all your vacation pictures in a start
