hi,

having problems here with menu-cycling (going up and down in the menu (f9 or "i" on remote)) after playing back a movie (here). (Hexagon and _Spekkio_ are having same problems .. ). _Spekkio_ does not need to play back something .. he has the problems directly after using f9 or "i".

here some statements:

[20:50] cortexwave: could somebody test something for me?
[20:50] cortexwave: play a movie and skip a couple of minutes
[20:51] cortexwave: then stop and using F9 open a menu
[20:51] cortexwave: try to cycle through that menu ... how does MP react?
[20:52] cortexwave: i am still having problems after playing back a movie and then stopping it and cycling through an overlay menu ... MP reacts very slow here
[20:53] _Spekkio_: yeah its been that way for me for a while
[20:53] cortexwave: but only in the overlay menus
[20:53] cortexwave: hi
[20:53] cortexwave: how did you solve that?
[20:54] Maedhros has disconnected
[20:55] _Spekkio_: I didnt, nor did I say I did
[20:55] _Spekkio_: its been that way for a while and I dont know why
[20:55] cortexwave: hmm
[20:56] cortexwave: i don´t have error messages here ...
[20:57] cortexwave: perhaps i should reinstall MP from scratch
[21:00] cortexwave: noone else?
[21:05] cortexwave: hmm
[21:06] Hexagon: does it happen i both fullscreen and window mode?
[21:06] _Spekkio_: yeah
[21:06] cortexwave: yes
[21:09] Hexagon: no problem here
[21:09] Hexagon: but i've seen mp beeing really slow somtimes
[21:10] Hexagon: animations is not smooth sometimes
[21:10] mbb- has joined
[21:11] Hexagon: aha wait
[21:11] Hexagon: haha found it
[21:11] Hexagon: happens after playing an xvid
[21:12] cortexwave: and it also happens in the menu?
[21:12] cortexwave: slow down and up?
[21:12] Hexagon: yes
[21:12] cortexwave: ok
[21:12] Hexagon: but just for a couple of seconds
[21:12] Hexagon: no wait
[21:12] cortexwave: and then normal reaction?
[21:12] Hexagon: it's only the context menu
[21:12] cortexwave: yep
[21:13] cortexwave: i hope someone can solve that
[21:13] mbb- has disconnected: Client Quit
[21:13] Hexagon: you should make a forum post
[21:13] cortexwave: will do ..
[21:14] cortexwave: do you have an ati or nvidia card?
[21:14] _Spekkio_: yeah it'll happen even if you just press the info button in the file menu to get to the option to delete and such it'll be really slow to scroll through the options
[21:15] _Spekkio_: cortexwave: it doesnt matter, its happened ot me on both
[21:15] cortexwave: yes _spekkio_
[21:16] Hexagon: i goes away when playing video or tv
[21:16] Hexagon: and then back again when stopping

perhaps you can try to reproduse:

1. play a movie
2. skip a couple of minutes
3. stop the movie
4. try to use f9 / or "i" button on remote to open a menu
5. go up and down in the menu (MP reacts really slow here ...)

i have no error messagen in my logs.

i hope you can help us. thank you very much.

Followed your instructions and cannot reproduce here.

This maybe graphics related, only way of finding out is if a few more people test, and post results.

I've been having the same issue as well, but can't readily reproduce it...I had just chalked it up to not having a dedicated video card, but my system should keep up without a problem (x2 5600+, gf6100 onboard)...

@ Paranoid Delusion: did you try to play an xvid, an x264 movie or a recording?

i do have the same problems, but it doesnt matter which kind of videorelated media i play back. it happens for xvid, x264 even tv and recordings, and as soon as the video is stopped (i dont need to skip in the video to reproduce) overlays like context menues or the miniepg is reacting on keypresses with a 2 - 3 sec.delay.

i really think this is somehow related to the gfxcard because when i connect to my htpc via a VNC-like client (which has its own graphicdriver while connected) this does not happen.

since you happen to have a nvidia 8500, i have a 8600GT so this could be a first hint.

The Gui has normal speed again as soon as i start playing some video again by the way. (only until i stop it again though)

sorry a bit late replying, still getting all the wrinkles ironed out of Vista sp1.

Tried with all above, just could not get things to slow down, dropped into standby a couple of times in between (used to be a real show stopper with hauppauge T500) and no problem.

So no great difference on processor between us, got amd optimizer installed otherwise nothing special as far as i can see.

smnnekho may be on the right track it could be graphics related, but we need more reports to try and confirm where things are going pear shaped for you guys.

Really wish i\someone was up on directx and its effects.

Exactly the same for me, and I'm sure its not my specs or config, I've even installed MP fresh with no changes to the defaults and it happens.
