    Dear MP users,

after testing MP for a while now, the most annoying issue is the problem of video and audio getting out of sync.
It happens automatically and the delay increases with the time watching.
I can speed the increase up by pressing Enter often so the channel menu pops up and disappears. With this "technique" I can get the gap between audio and video being a few seconds (!!)
The video is behind the audio in all cases.
When I push the "right" button which makes MP switch to the timeshift's end, it's synced again - but the same problem stays so I have to jump to the end every 5 minutes.

I use the system and version described in the bottom.
I tried other audio codecs like ffdshow and dscaler but still this effect.
I switched between AC3 and MPEG audio streams but this gives no difference.

I read many opinions of users which have the same problem. Some report ffdshow will resolve this, others think MPA does the job. I can't confirm this so I started my own thread.

Please help, this makes MP useless for me at the moment :(
    Thanks in advance!

    Dear developers and users,

since no one has a solution for me maybe I should start brainstorming a little bit.

So what can be the source of the video and audio getting out of sync?

I think it has to be the timeshifting-part.
I can't look deep enough into the sources to understand what's going on in there but I can imagine that somehow the video and audio streams aren't "connected" any more.
So when the CPU has to do something and can't handle the job completely it slows down the video part because it wants to show every single frame. The audio part does not need as much ressources so there is enough to decode it in real-time. Therefore the sound is ahead. May this be? My system should handle this with ease.
I can't imagine that it is the TV-card because it only "delivers" the stream and the out-of-sync part seems to be the interpreter (the MP TVserver-client with its decoders)?

I'd like to test if the failure occurs when watching TV without timeshift - can I turn it off?

I tested TV-watching in AltDVB - there is no problem.

So again: please help me getting this fixed. Or if it is a bug: please fix it, I would be really thankful :)

    Hi Eggert

You can not switch the time-shift off when you are using TV-Server, so that won't help you.

Using the MP-Config application, what have you configured as your 'Audio-Renderer'? It should always be "Default DirectSound Device"....

Also try to use different video decoders. It is the video that's supposed to sync to audio and not the other way around. You can confirm this by finding the clock icon in Graphedit (connect to remote graph when playing video in MP).

Does the same problem happens when you PREVIEW a channel from within the TVServer Config program?
