What is the default behaviour in MP for material that is encoded as "video rgb", ie black is 16, while white is 235 vs the regular pc-standard where black is 0 and white is 255?

I think that for some codec/revision combinations, my videos will occasionally appear grey, while for other combinations they will be solid contrast.

I am afraid to compensate using the contrast of my video card as that will render the GUI, my photos etc wrong.

regards
Knut

But is there some meta-information in the video-stream telling if it is one or the other? Is it possible to tell any of the codecs to convert to pc-rgb if needed, but do nothing else?
