In a picture slideshow you usually don't want to see all 1496 pictures you took on your trip but only a selection of the ~100 best ones. The current way of doing this is to copy or move them into a seperate folder and start the slideshow there.

My proposal
It'd be great if mediaportal could read the picasa.ini file within the picture folder to figure out the "stared" photos that you selected in picasa. It should then offer a selection to show only those. This way, you can keep ALL pictures in one place and have a subset ready for a slideshow.

I think your idea is great

But it may be even simpler to use the windows property 'rating' that is available for each file. Then could simply select to show all rated 3 or more for example. Using file properties should make it relatively easy to filter by or change the value.

I didn't even know such a rating exist cause I don't use it. But sure, why not. To have the couple of most popular ways of photo rating supported would be great.
