    Hi!
There are a lot of people out there who report that MP freeze at TV channel change. There are also some threads but they don't help at all.

I had my MP under XP quite stable but I upgraded to Vista because of graphic card driver issues (they ars solved). But till then I can´t get MyTV stable:

    - I can start watching TV but MP freezes immediately and each time I try to change channel (I try only descrambeled), you wait 10-20 sec, there comes a popup window without text, you confirm it and MyTV starts to play my previous channel Timeshift from beginning
    - if I try the preview from TV-Service configuration, each channel work (they start slowly, takes ca 15 sec)
    - I can start every channel first just can't change
    - with the TechnoTrend original software I can switch channels as long as I will, and it works very quickly (change channel in 1-2 sec)

Maybe TV-server crashes and starts again in background in these 15-20 sec?

The same SVN of TV-Server and MP functioned under XP. I have already tried:
    - VMR9 exclusive on/off, EVR on/off
    - every MPG2 decoder in TV (with DVDs the same config works)
    - Firewall and Antivirus off
    - EPG from DVB off (idle and timeshift)
    - with/without S2 capability of my TV-Card
    - with/without Hardware Acceleration of graphic adapter
    - newest SVN of both MP/TV-Server
    - TT S2-3200 driver 5.0.0.6 and latest 5.0.0.12, same problem
    - tried MySQL and MS SQL. no difference.

Same hardware and software config did function under XP! HEEELLLPPP! :D

Are you running the stable 0.2.3.0 MP version? If yes then please update both MP and TVE3 to the same SVN version.

as I wrote yes. Stable 0.2.3 and 2 SVNs (one from end of december and one from yesterday, always MP and TVServer the same SVN)

    NOBODY HAS AN IDEA?

MY GOD! I found the problem:

I forgot to install the AMD Dual Core Optimizer! Under XP I used RMClock, which acts like it. I wanted to install it later... Now I can switch channels!

    Yep, makes a big difference.

Just setup my pc as dual boot, so just gone through all the hoops of sorting out the niggles with xp pro, that prevent MP from working correctly, first one was the above (stuttering\bad channel changes without).

Might write a little tutorial on my experience, may help someone.

I take it back. Because of another reason I did a new install and the channel change is not working again with installed CPU optimizer. I am disapointed again :-(

I did some testing. Installed several SVN combinations without any improvement. I can´t change channel. The first channel works, TVServer writes the timeshift file, if I try a new channel in MyTV the name and program information changes but picture does not come. There is a new timeshift file in my timeshift folder with just 1 kb.

It looks like the TV Server can´t start writing the new timeshift file. Any ideas?

That sounds like one of the User account control (UAC) limitations, never found a foolproof way around it besides turning it off.

    Sorry

I shut down UAC. Still same issue. :-(

I did some further testing. I made a new clean Vista installation with UAC deactivated and with administrator rights. I installed everything needed (TVEngine 17122, MP 2.3.0 with SVN 17122, MS SQL, Technotrend S2-3200 with DBA Driver 5.0.0.12, hardware drivers).

First everything functioned as it should! I had quick TV start and flawless channel changes. BUT after a restart (I did not change anything in cofigurations!) same issue again. First channel starts slower and I can´t change channels. MP freeze and gives an error massage without hints.

    The BUG I´ve found:
I can start timeshifting for every channel from the manual control window from TV-Server. The TV-Card status goes from idle to timeshifting. 2 files are created: a .ts file (with default 256 MB size) and a .tsbuffer file with only 1 kb. It works. If I stop timeshifting, these 2 files get deleted. I can start the timeshift again with any channel. BUT if I do not stop timeshift manually and try to start timeshift a new channel, the files will not be deleted and timeshift does not start, I get novideo/noaudio error massage after ca. 20 sec, card status remains "timeshifting".

It looks like TV-Server cannot stop timeshifting the previous channel automatically. Is it a bug or do I do something wrong? Is there a cure? TV not functioning makes me (and my wife) crazy.

    THX

Hi! Here is the TSWriter log for analysation.

I did a clean new Vista install with MP 2.3.0 mt SVN 17122, TVE3 17122, MS SQL Database. Scanned the channels without problems (Technotrend S2-3200 with BDA Driver 5.0.0.6). I opened manual control, started timeshifting Channel n24 without problems. Tried timeshift Channel "BahnTV" without stopping N24 timeshift -> I get error message "no audio/video detected" after ca. 20 sec. If I stop timeshift manually, I can timeshift this channel wihout problems.

Because of this I can not change channels in MP, I guess. I would appreciate if a Portal Developer or somebody who knows something could help.

I see one suspicious row in my log:
    "bdaapiCIGetSlotStatus failed:15"

this is present several times. Could it be the problem?
