Hi,

I am having strange problem with Vista, MP and Dual Screen (Nvidia) and hoped some one might be able to help.

I run MP on secondary screen, with MPAutofocus and everything works fine for anywhere between 20mins and 2 hours. Then suddenly screen reverts to desktop and when i return to PC I see that MP is minimized to tray. What makes it worse is when you maximize again the screen goes white as though graphics lib can't re-initialize.

Anyone got any suggestion on why it minimizes? Also can someone tell me which logs I should check out and where they are stored?

I tried the Event Viewer and he seems to have a message about MP trying to disable the "Desktop Window Manager".

Thanks,

Dave.

Attach both your error.log and MediaPortal.log from when this has happened. They are in Program Files\Team Mediaportal\Mediaportal\Log unless you installed MediaPortal somewhere else.

Thanks for getting back to me. I searched earlier and it said in another post that i should have a log directory directly under MP but I do not have one and I used a default installation.

Should they be produced all the time when I select DEBUg in the configuration window? I am on Vista are they in the same place?

In Vista they are under c:\programdata\team mediaportal\mediaportal\logs

Empty the directory, run mp and after you had the errors, send over the logs.

Or use the mptest-tool from Mediaportal directory

thanks for the info., I just had a failure (18.03) and then I closed down via Power Off on MCE remote.

Thanks for any help you can provide in this matter,

Dave.

No one got any ideas?

I checked out the logs and cos there were reports of DirectX issues I ensured that I had all teh latest versions of patches and everything but the problem still occurs.

With Vista to run without errors, have found disabling "user account control" helps, if no TVcard installed (which your first post shows) might be worthwhile disabling anything TV related under plugins, just double click so they go opaque.

Are you using EVR, check out the EVR2 post.

Check out the MPtestool2 in the mediaportal folder, create a desktop shortcut and use it the next time you are going to use MP for a couple of hours and post the whole zipped log.

    Thanks

Have you found a solution to the problem. Mine just started acting up. Previously I had no problems... and changed nothing but now if I click on the other monitor MP minimized to the desktop. I don't get what is going on.
