Ok, have dealt with this for far too long now. i have read every forum and tried every codec with different settings.
Still, mediaportal refuses to play .vobs.

I have alot of musicvideos in .vob format. no .ifo and such.. just .vobs.

My PC:
Laptop with a Mobile Radeon x600
CCCP Installed
PowerDVD codec installed.

When i try play the files it just goes to black screen. They wont play in WMP either.
I assume that if i get them working in WMP they should work in Mediaportal too?
Dont know what more to say, my head is a complete mess atm. I'm no expert at codecs which is very frustrating, all i know is that you shouldnt have too many but just keep it simple to avoid conflicts.
What settings should i have in FFDSHOW/Mediaportal to get it to work?

Hope someone can help me with this, have tried different media centers but none have flawless .vob support.
And none seem to have the answer (have asked on all the forums).

I have the same problem. I have about 5 vob's that won't play in MP or WMP. When I rename them to *.mpg, 4 of the 5 work without problem in MP and WMP. Strange...

    1. you have a codec pack installed, and that is something you shouldnt do.
    2. please download the tool ::graphedit:: and start graphedit.exe . then drag and drop ONE vob file into it. make a screenshot and attach it to your post.

    thanks :)

What is the reason that MPA and MPV are distributed along with MediaPortal? This will cause even more codec chaos...(they pop up as codec in other programs outside MP and I certainly don't want that...)

What is their purpose, what are they intended for and what are they suppose to do that other codecs can't?
    How do I uninstall them?

Oh, and how do I get out of MediaPortal full screen...I can't find anything about this in the how-to's, helpfiles and FAQ's. :sorry:

    • reason1: a MPG2 codec is required to be able to watch TV
    • reason2: not all users are willing to pay for an MPG2 codec, MPA/MPV is FREE
    • reason3: MPA/MPV are THE ONLY codecs which turned out to work without any major issues during the last years.

just start it in "windowed mode" -> MediaPortal Configuration
    or press ALT + ENTER
