    Hi all,

I've recently been recording Life on BBC HD but there's a slightly annoying problem. It records with a narrative for those with vision problems.

Does anyone know, is this broadcast with the programme and therefore you have to live with it? Or is it broadcast as a seperate audio stream that I can remove/mute?

    Thanks.

    Bob.

I've checked the file using Mediainfo and it has two audio streams, NAR and er...usual.

I have another file that also has two audio streams (English and Czech) that used to play at the same time, I installed Morgan Stream Switcher and this now plays only the single English stream from within MP.

So why does MSW work for the second file but not the one recorded from the TV?

    Thanks.

    Mike.

I get that while watching BBC HD live as well (not just on recordings) - there are two audio streams and you can select the normal one from the MP context menu under "Language", but it seems to default to the one with narrative. Quite annoying... I was wondering if there's some way to set the default soundtrack.

    Hi there,

Did you find a way of setting the default stream (to non narritive)?

    Thanks,

    J.

Same problem here. Seems to be only with BBC HD and MediaPortal - it plays the correct stream in MPC by default. I'm using FFDShow as per SAF instructions but couldn't find a way of changing this.

You can switch the stream by pressing 'a' in MediaPortal but it would be better if there was a way of setting the correct stream permanently. Any ideas anyone?

    Hi there,

    Yes I did.

In MP config -> television -> TV client -> audio settings, I selected both "prefer AC-3 sound" and "prefer audiotype over language" and selected eng as a preferred language in the box above.

Now, I don't know if I needed to do all of these but this is what I have done and it's worked. Although occaisionally the voiceover will still play, which is a bit weird.

    Bob.

    Hi there,

I have both the same options set as yourself, and also still experience Closed Captioning (commentary) on BBC HD :(

I have to switch the audio language (a) from within MP each time - its as if AC3 is not being chosen as the preferred (or MP is not detecting BBC HD audio stream as AC3)??

    Thanks,

    J.

I'm not at home tonight but will check/confirm tomorrow evening. I'm not 100% that I tested it within MP and I didn't just watch a recording using Windows media player.

Same here, it's a nuisance. I don't have prefer AC3 ticked because it slows down channel changing. I remember a fiddle in GB-PVR to get around this issue (and I'm sure there's probably something similar that can be done in MP) whereby I changed the audio PID in the tuning details. I've been meaning to look at this for ages, I'll have a fiddle later on.

Later: Hmm, maybe it can't be tweaked after all - the audio PID doesn't seem to be stored in the tuningdetail table, it's set to 0. Any devs help with this?

I haven't got it to work on mine either - just got used to pressing the green button on the remote to select the other audio track if I watch BBC HD. Not sure if I tried all the settings though - might have another fiddle later.
