Hi Members of this forum,

I recently changed from MediaCenter to this great program, but I have a strange problem to control the volume in the MediaPortal.

For controlling the MP I'm using Hama MCE Replacement. In the OS (Windows 7 x64) it works fine, also in the MP, but not when I'm watching a video. When I control the volume while a video is playing the OSD appears but nothing happens. And now the strange part: the mute button is working.

So when the volume is set to Zero (not Mute), no sounds are coming from the MP, but when I start a video I have the video sound, although the OS volume is set to Zero.

What sound device do you have set for videos in the configuration settings? Default Direct Sound Device?

I tried all four possible devices:

ATI HDMI
DEFAULT DIRECT
DEFAULT WAVE and
DIRECTSOUND: ATI HDMI

With the first three devices I have the problem described above.

With the the last device I have sound in MP but not in the videoplayer.

Maybe offtopic but: Volume control via MP modifies the "Default Device" configured in "Playback Devices". I would like to see that the current Device beeing controlled, since for TV I used HDMI output on the TV, for Video i use my external 5.1 System. The default device is "Headphones" .

(Also mute (not via MP?) also only mutes the default device)

I weren't able to solve this problem, so played a little bit with my installed codecs. I hat installed al codecs separably (ffdshow, haali media splitter). I de-installed all an installed a codec pack. K-Lite Basic was my first chose and no everything works fine.

So tanks for your help.
The problem is not solved, but circumvented.
