Summary:
Adding volume control for tunner using the directshow filters.

Area:
TV, RADIO

Description:
I don't know if the new TV Server support this, but I see that MP don't support volume control ( not the master or wave ) for tunner only, using the volume property of the directshow filters. Don't know if all the tunners support such thing, but it would be nice to add this for tunners that supports it.
I like to listen a lot the radio, and when comes to speak to someone on skype for example, I must shut down MP to hear the other person! Setting the volume to low won't help because the volume control sets the master or wave to low, so all the sounds will be low.

I too find this annoying. I would like to listen to music while watching tv and then mute or lower MP's volume independent of Windows master or wave volume. I've been using SageTV and it has an option UseSystemVolume = False or True. Something similar in MediaPortal would be great.

Isn't this available in the congif under general? You can specify which volume property MP uses to control volume -wav, aux, master etc.
It won't let you control an individual card or anything, but you cn make it not touch the main windows volume.

I'm using v0.2.2.0 and can choose only from Master Volume and Wave in General/Volume Settings. Maybe it's been fixed in the SVN?

Just choosing Wave instead of Master won't help since other applications also use the Wave volume. I'm not sure how SageTV accomplish it but I would guess that it controls the volume internally before sending it to the Wave mixer. So setting SageTV's volume at 50% will leave the Wave slider at 100% making other programs such as Winamp or Skype use 100% while watching tv at 50%.
Does that make any sense? :)

This issue was solved by upgrading to Vista. In the Volume Mixer every application gets its own volume slider!
