Has anybody tried this? I've heard and read good things about it and the qualities of my mp3 collection varies greatly so could come in handy.

Will it work through MP if using WMP as the player? It depends I guess at what point it integrates with WMP. I know the filters within WMP don't carry through to MP.

It mentions i-tunes in the requirements. Is that really necessary? Could be a misprint.

Cheers
John

NorthernJohn,

unfortunately the volumelogic plugin won't work in MP using WMP. I've mentioned it in this thread https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=11535&highlight= But unfortunately that request got buried under some other requests adn discussions, and I decided not to persue it any further (my guess is that at some point this will be supported). Until that timeI'll just use winamp.

The Volumelogic plugin for winamp and iTunes do carry over to MP, when enabling either plugin (winamp or iTunes).

Thanks for the answers.

Don't know what others think but I reckon it sucks that each supported player requires another purchase. :x

I'm playing around with foobar and the ReplayGain function at the moment. Scanned my files last night and put MP on Party Shuffle whilst cooking dinner. Seemed ok. 45 mins and I didn't have to fiddle with the volume. However, I find the foobar form that pops on first use extremely irritating. Not going to do the WAF much good either.

I'll see how I get on with foobar. At least Volume Logic offer a free trial so I can try it with Winamp. Might give that a go and compare. Just means I'll have to install Winamp as well

I guess we're lucky MP is so configurable, ey? 8)

I've just modified the foobar plugin that MP _can_ wait more than 3 seconds if foobar isn't ready then.

If it doesn't make it into the svn source soon I'll post it as a plugin.

Do you have other issues with this wonderful player? I'd like to improve it further!

So you're a bit of a foobar fan then :D

I do have an issue but I'm not sure if it is foobar or MP. When I start Party Shuffle mode, I usually take out the tracks that I really don't want to listen to (usually from the wife's Prince collection :D ) but I find that I then have some strange behaviour of jumping to that part of the playlist, playing the track, then going back up and playing the track that was on while I was deleting. A similar thing happens when I try to skip a track. I'll skip to where I want to go, but then rather than continuing forward, it will go back to the track I was on and start playing again from there, thereby playing the tracks that I wanted to avoid in the first place. :?

Like I said, it might be my svn of MP (27 March I think). I should upgrade but after much hassle, I have managed to get the video and dvd stable so don't want to rock the boat until 0.2 Final comes out.

I'll try a Party Shuffle not using foobar and see what happens.

If this happens only with foobar could you please post a step-by-step guide?

It is a foobar thing I'm afraid.

    1. go to My Music
    2. go to Current Playlist
    3. choose Party Shuffle. 12 tracks added to playlist.
    4. skip forward 3 tracks to track 4. Put your feet up and listen

    Observe:
    1. Track 4 plays through. Tracks 1,2 and 3 remain in the playlist view.
    2. Track 5 plays next as expected. Track 3 becomes the top track in the list.
    3. Track 5 finishes playing. Track 3 is replaced by track 4 at the top of the list. Track 4 starts playing (again), then 5 (again) and so on.

When carrying out the same process with foobar plugin disabled (ie, vanilla MP), skipping forward tracks always puts the playing track at the top of the list. Skipping tracks with foobar doesn't seem to sort the playlist out like it should.

    MP 0.2 RC3 CVS1 29 March
    foobar2000 0.83

    Hope this helps. 8)
