Hi There, I have been using Microsoft Media Center for the last couple of years ... most recently using WIN8 and an Acer Revo PC. In general everything works ... a few silly formatting issues ... and slow as a pig ... but everything works. I use a Hama MCE Remote control. Given the slow speed of MCE and the much greater functionality that MediaPortal supposedly has, then I decided to try it out last night. The software loads, it finds the (1000!) TV channels and appears to be working ... but I really cannot make any serious use of the product because it is as if half of the buttons on the remote control are no longer working (they worked in Media Center!). Certainly the BACK button doesn't appear to be working ... so once I go into a certain menu then I would appear to be stuck there for good ... or use the "mouse" function of the remote to get to the menu at the top of the screen! And I cannot get the Green Button to start MediaPortal or do anything inside the app ... I've even had to kill the program a couple of times in the Task Manager. And the whole thing is even slower than Media Center. So ... at the moment I have a HTPC solution in my living room that simply doesn't work ... and I am going to have to fallback to Media Center in a few hours unless I am overlooking something simple. Media Center IS still installed on the PC ... but obviously not running (not sure if being installed on the PC means that some background services are running?). Given that Microsoft are not including it in WIN8 any more, I am reluctant to delete it. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going wrong here? Many Thanks for reading ... and if you happen to have any tips! Michael Walsh.
