Was Working, Now Suddenly It's Not. MCE buttons gone. (1 Viewer)

Using MP 1, and 1.04.1 and now the latest test build of IRSS.

Was working perfectly, as per usual, with my MCE remote, everything was fine.

5 days later after MP reinstall, I have lost all MCE buttons besides U, D, L, R and OK. They all appear to be working outside of MP, can use every single button to launch MP using IR Tray as a test. The sad part is, I can't change volume or channels or use the back key any more which are the 3 I use the most.

I've trawled threads, looked at fixes but am a little lost as to the exact nature of the problem as it WAS working fine and without any changes of any description, now it's all gone.

If anyone could explain what I need to do to narrow this down, it would be appreciated. I haven't reinstalled MP yet, which is my ultimate last option as I just got it to where I like it again.

You havent done any windows updates, or have they done themselves automatically?? just a thought. Have you installed anything else, drivers, programs etc?

Just curious as to why it was working and then just stopped. If it had stopped after updating Mp, a program or the OS that would lead me to think that the update was causing your trouble?

There was a manual update done on the 11/1/09. It's now the 13/1/09 here and it was working fine this morning according to my wife. Working fine on the 12th too.

It streamed radio all day and tonight it's unresponsive. I would blame batteries if it wasn't working fine in Windows.

Checking the Windows Update log, it has attempted to update over the last couple of days (usually I have the Automatic Update Service disable, it's re-enabled somehow) but Automatic Updates are switched to off in the Control Panel so it closes itself down and nothing has installed since the 11th.

Still nothing, after a day of tweaking and trying different settings.

Works fine in Windows, not in MP besides UDLR and OK. Good times.

If anyone can come up with anything, feel free to suggest it otherwise I will attempt a MP reinstall. Great software, damn annoying at times. And maybe by the lack of responses, it has others stumped too.

See if it is the keymap.xml that is damaged, just replace it with mine.

Thanks for the help PD, but unfortunately, that did not work.

Do you have any other suggestions? I'm about to uninstall everything and see if that fixes it.

Remove IRServersuite, then uninstall, the ehome driver, remove the IR receiver once done, now reboot and reconnect the receiver, see if that will now work as mce remote without the IRServersuite installed.

Make sure there are no other options enabled under remote settings.

I just completely reinstalled MediaPortal from scratch before I got your message. Doing that didn't work.

I'm now following your instructions and removing ehome and rebooting.

Is the problem with IRSS, and will I be able to reinstall it? I don't use many of the features, besides PowerPC and the Tray Launcher.

Yes, have not a clue why, happened to me when i last checked out xbmc and you needed to use IRServersuite for it to be able to recognise the mce remote.
Try reinstalling IRS but backing up any config files that may be produced on install, so if it ever happens again, just overwrite the files and reboot.

Which config files do you speak of?

IRSS always 'seemed' to be working, debug caught all the button presses but couldn't make MP do what I wanted.
