Hello to all,
I am quite a freshmen in using Mediaportal so I have already encountered a problem.

I am using the TV card Medion TV-TUNER 7134. It is a analog TV card and goes with the driver medion wdm video capture. whenever I try to add it as a capture card there is an error "unable to create a graph for this device" I also installed the powercinema which includes the decoder "cyberlink video/sp decoder (medion)".

so why this error still occurs?

kind regards
caligula

ps. i also tried to install a bda driver but then the capture card is not recognized either by power cinema of by mediaportal. moreover an additional component in the device manager occurs which can't be installed by the tv card drivers.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

I actually had that same tuner, I believe. I remember it being a real PITA to get working. The reason for this is that this is a software encoding card, which has limited support, both in trhe built in TV engine (TVE2) and TVServer. My strong recommendation to you would be to get a hardware encoding card, like the Hauppauge 150.

If you still want to give your current card a try, we need to know weather you are using TVServer or TVE2 (what did you answer when installing).
I'll see if I can dig up som threads if you decide go down this path. (Or you could try using the search function).

Just to add a caveat that the Hauppage PVR-150 (and I believe the PVR-500 as it is like 2 PVR-150s on one card) does not work if you have more than 4Gb. It is a driver issue that has been known about for about a year and a half.

If you are not planning to have 4Gb or more this should not be a problem and should work fine in MediaPortal.

This is the entry in the TV capture card box

Medion (7134) WDM Video capture (Medion 7134(analogue)). So the card is detected but no graph can be created.

I also learned that this is a software encoding card. With the power cinema this card works perfectly fine.
This homepage contains all information I could figure out.
    NXP Semiconductors[pip=SAA7134HL_4]|pp=[t=pip,i=SAA7134HL_4]

    What shall I do?

    Hi,
I installed Power cinema 8 and selected the MPEG encoder. I also found another driver for my tv card (BDA) but nothing seems to word, still no graph can be created.
due to the driver change also the name of the tv capture card changed from:

Medion (7134) WDM Video capture (Medion 7134(analogue))
    to
    713x BDA digital capture (Medion SAA7134 DVB-T )

    the following decoders are available:

    CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (Medion)
    CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)
    CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (Homenetwork)

however none of them seem to work either.

Is there anybody who can help me?

Sorry, no skype. Also, I'm back and forth to the computer. If you want continuous folloup, you should give IRC a try. (I won't be there, @ work ATM).

Btw: Are you only interested in analogue reception? If so, my advice stands: Get a hardware encoding card (any brand - all HW cards are suported by TVServer). My guess is that price is so low, that fiddling for hours with your SW-card is not worth it.

Thank you, I will do so. Just one more question. I am not very much into Tv cards aso. (as you probably already realized ;-) )

If I get a new TV card, are there also possibilities which I can use with the Laptop?
What I have to take into consideration if I also want to watch and record HDTV.
Can you recommend any TV card in particular?

    Regards Tom
