You don't need a http request for contacting the HTPC, Lord. That's what MPW wake up is for.

The only thing I don't know is if WOL is supported if the PC is turned off?!? Or does the HTPC need to be in hibernation for WOL?

If hibernation is not needed, this would definately a thing to think about ;-)
