    Synopsis::

    I'm trying to use one or two of my old sw-cards in an secondary MP-computer. So far I have succeeded in geting the chanels tuned in on both cards, with good help from the wiki and the forum. I also get TV-picture and audio, both in preview and fullscreen in the program, but my problem occurs whenever I try to record something. No matter how I do it, the recording consists of video that don't play. If I scan through the file, the image changes, but it doesn't advance on it self, it seems like its on pause (which it isn't), and no audio. I have never seen anything like it. If I try timeshifting the image freezes, and the audio continue, if I uncheck timeshifting, the video continues.

    Obiously the recording process somehow disrupts the recorded files. I use WinDVR 3 on the Terratec card and Soft MCE for the hauppauge card, according to the wiki and forumposts om these cards.

    The CPU load is 30-40% when one card is showing/recording and 75-80% when I use both cards.

    I'm quite at a loss for what to do. Anyone experienced something like it? I'd be glad to supply moe info, if anyone has someting to ask.

    Yours,

    Try using another video codec first - if nothing helps try converting your records to mpeg.

    Thanks mate!

    Converting made the files playable. Do you have any idea as to why? Timeshifting still dont't work, but thats only of secondary interest. Now I really look forward to the new engine. Hope it works there as well.

    When you said try another codec, did you mean decoder or encoder? The speciffic cards has, as I have understood, limitations to which codecs to use. Different decoders didnt help, when I tried the 5 options available.

    But, alas. There is no sound on the recording. I don't know if this problem is related to the previous, or if it is a consequence of the external audio-transition tha the card uses. I can't seem to find a way to configure the input to be soundcard:line-in. I think perhaps this was possible in 0.1.3. I get sound when I watch live TV, but I suspect that that is just throughput of some kind.
