I'm trying to get my SnapStream FireFly radio remote to work with MediaPortal. I have selected X10 and FireFly in the MediaPortal setup program, and no FireFly software is installed. The remote does work, but in a very weird manner. I have to click a button twice for MediaPortal to pick it up!? This goes for all the buttons. To move up in menus, I must click the up button twice. To adjust volume, I must click the volume button twice, etc etc.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Try this:

Remove all drivers for firefly + installed software that came with it.

Download basic driver for the remote from http://www.snapstream.com/download/firefly/

go to mediaportal directory - download http://www.geocities.com/diablomadman/Other_X10.xml (rename to firefly.xml) and insert it to \InputDeviceMappings\custom\ (create custom if it doesn't exist)

Start mediaportal config - enter remote and select firefly as your remote.

That should do it....

Thx to Captainspanky for XML....

Do you mean to select firefly under x10 or would it be somewhere else?

Hi, the firefly is natively supported. Just install the base drivers from snapstream (after uninstalling their horrific BM program and deleting anything named x10net.dll on your hard drive). The select firefly in the config.

Correct - firefly is natively supported, but the drivers for it must still be installed. By using the basic ones, one avoids all the other software that comes with the drivers. I found, that the keymapping was *very* unsatisfactory - this was corrected by captainsparkys xml...

Select the firefly as your remote, then change the mapping - this results in MP creating 'custom' directory in which the new keymapping is placed. This new keymapping you then replace with captainspankys..

I have BeyondTV installed on my machine. Do you know if I uninstall the Firelfy software, if the remote will still work in BeyondTV?
