What factors influence how quickly I can change channels?

I want to have a go at improving the time it takes to change channels, but I need to know where to start looking...

I'm going to try moving the timeshift files to SSD or ramdisk, what else is there?

Hi,

There have been a few enhancements recently in the SVN that contribute to improving channel change times. It might be worth waiting for 1.2.0 Beta next month to see the improvement.

You probably won't see a great different by timeshifting on a ramdisk/ssd drive.

Other factors include:

how fast the tuner card/lnb can change frequency
whether the channel is encrypted or not
pot luck!! (sometimes you can tune at a good moment where everything MP needs to start timeshifting arrives straight away. Sometimes it can take half a second for everything to arrive)
