I use imon ipad mainly because it came with my silverstone case, configuration was ok with the help of the .imo files on these forums
The pad part of the remote is a bit clumsy but other than that its great.
the "Australian" MCE remote is the best. It works straight out of the box, comes with two IR emitters to control other IR components and is back lit. All for only around $70 AU
There are many other threads about this. If you do a search you'll see that the MCE seems to have the most user votes.
The only downside is that very rarely (once a year or so) it will crash and need to be reset, but hey, it is made by MS so what can you expect (seriously, I'm not making that up).
Snapstream firefly, purely because it works (very important) is easily configurable, and my MP box is in the basement some 12 feet and 1 floor down from my couch! It also came bundled with a diamond Xtreme TV card which is also pretty good.
interesting... I'm considering buying new remote - the iMon that was bundled with VFD is a b**** to configure/get to work with MP... Considering firefly - this works "out of the box"???
Assigning the firefly button for the MP homepage instead of beyond media, the ABCD buttons all have stuff, the C button is context menu, A button is TV, B button is TVGuide using mykeys, C button is the context menu I changed in MP to f12 cos of a conflict with WMP in Mymusic and generating playlists, D button is Aspect ratio,. DVD button is MyMovies, Video is Weather (??), Music is My Music. Any here is the profile save it as
MediaPortal-0.0.0.12.xml in the firefly profiles menu which is usually in the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Firefly\Profiles" directory
I just came across WiFi Remote in a roundabout way. I am looking for a way to remotely control my HTPC, which is located in my home theatre room with a beamer and has Media Portal installed, from the living room, where there is a TV that is connected to the HTPC.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this remote control once the...

I had the same feeling about MP1, nothing was working out of the box, it was full of hardcoded dependencies and bugs. That’s how I came to MP2 and I’m very happy with it ;)

I've had Media Portal 1 installed on a dedicated desktop computer for at least 10 years now. Sometimes it's a little sluggish, but...
Standard Windows behaviour is that if you open a file in File Explorer that has an application associated with it the file will be displayed in that application. This does not happen with MP2. If I try to open a .ts file (or any other video file type associated with Media Portal) rather than displaying the recording it merely opens...
