What's the best HD card available right now? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for a good HD video card suitable for the US. Of course, if there's a dual-tuner card, I'd prefer that over a single tuner. However, it seems that there aren't many supported HD cards available. Then of course, there's the problem that PCI slots are becoming rarer and rarer on motherboards. So, what would be the best all-around HD card supported by MP? Thanks

So jim m, is the hvr-1600 working well with media portal? It is not on the supported list, others have claimed issues. I am considering this card (or the soon to be released hvr-1800, PCI-Express version) for myself but hate to spend the money until I know I can get it to work with Media Portal.

Thanks!

It is working fine I believe. It only recognizes one tuner (MP that is) and I have been using the digital tuner with astonishing results.

My only complaints are that I cannot get 1080 to playback well on my computer.
The MP software doesn't appear to play well with multiple hard drive storage locations. I have set up the recordings to go to my c: and then in off time they are moved to the LAN storage drives (I have 3). MP dsoftware is supposed to move and delete. It moves, actually copies, and doesn't delete the original. I have to manually do that through windows explorer. Also, MP will not delete the copy that was moved to the NAS.

All this added up makes it one loser for me.

3 NAS drives with 100+ gig free space each.
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256meg AGP video card. Supposedly does HDTV....

Others have been complaining about trouble with HD playback on video cards older than 6800. Mine has a 7300 gs which is a lousy card even though it is 7000 series. I may have trouble as well. :( I guess I will find out when my HVR-1600 arrives in a few days. Hopefully someone will figure our how to get this card to work with both tuners in MP :) .

The next version of SnapStream's product is supposed to work with both tuners.

Time will tell. I am in trial with the software and think it may be worth the $$.
