Hi,

can someone tell me when DVB epg update takes place? I know you can force epg refresh in tv server config but when else does it update? Is it when MP TV is idle? Is it any time computer is on and TV service requests it? can''t seem to find a definitive answer.

Thanks

I would also like to know were EPG info is written\stored too, as nothing being produced.
It would be nice to be able to monitor any written file like the .xml produced by WebEPG.

the EPG is written to the SQL database.
if you open the database and have a look you will see the table in there.

afaik the epg can only be downloaded when the tv card is idle (for "over the air" DVB-T)... i dunno about webepg etc though.

There are two new setings in the timeout for EPG grab.

TIMEOUT: I have tried many and the best I have found for UK is 12 Mins. I now have successful grabs almost everytime whereas with any TIMOUTE less than twelve minutes it fails 99% of the time.

REFRESH: I have set this to a low setting of 15 (for testing) minutes and this seems to be the time the EPG uses before it resets the 'not needed lastUpdate' block for update.

Confirmed works ok, only seems to be writing to the database in the 11-12 minute of grab.

Also works on 60 min refresh.

I think the really important change is the 10 to 12 minute grab, see if anyone has another view on this as does seem to be excessive, considering my TV does it in seconds.

    agreed...

with a combination or 12mins / 60mins i was able to get a FULL epg in 20mins (installed tvserver at 19.50... EPG grab completed at 20:10).

still a bit longer than other devices, but certainly quicker and the "hours" it was taking before.
