I think you are looking for the webplugin of your mozilla brwoser. It is included into the vlc installer, but not checked by default. Run de vlc installer again to reinstall vlc, then when you have to choose the components, you will see not everything is checmarked. The mozilla webplugin does not have a checkmark.

I is possible, but only with javascript. I well release an updated version tomorrow with a button to enable deinterlacing.
