Hi! First of all I would like to thank Team Mediaportal for an awesome program!

Now to the reason for the post:

I was wondering where the mediaportal settings are stored? Movie-database information, remote settings etc.

The reason I'm wondering is that i recently formatted my computer and I desperately tried to find a file/the files containing the settings so that I could move them to another disk while formatting c:

I didn't find anything so I ended up copying the whole Team Mediaportal folder in the program folder...

All my movies, music, tv-series, covers etc are located on another disk and I was kinda hoping that I could just format the C-drive, reinstall Mediaportal and then replace it with the old folder to avoid the task of importing all my files to the database again. But I was wrong.

Could anyone enlighten me to the location of these settings? So that I can avoid the tedious task of re-importing/setting up my x10 remote all over in the future..

Best regards.

    Hi, welcome :)

    Various places involved.
Example: go to start menu, programs, team mediaportal, mediaportal, user files. Lots of files are stored there.
MP Configuration settings stored in mediaportal.xml.
TV Server and some plugins (like moving pictures) stuff stored in a database.

Behind the scenes, in the program files directory, you will find a mediaportaldirs.xml that will point you to other folders where stuff is stored.

Easiest would be to try out the backup plugin from huha if I recall correctly.

    Thanks alot!

I've already started to look into the files :)

I totally missed the fact that there existed a backup plugin to, so I have to look into that aswell!

The way I see it, I only have to backup my settings once but I have to backup the Movie/tvseries database every now and then.

I also wondered where the auto-downloaded covers ended up and now I found out!

That was a very quick and really helpfull reply. Thank you very much rekenaar!
